Hi, everybody,
I am looking to buy a MINI, but can't decide which one to chose - COOPER, or COOPER S. I know there is a BIG difference in HP, but do you use them for every day commute? I know some of you drive always with that button on . Still, please, let me know what you think.

Respectfully,

If you're into going fast get the S or you'll always regret it. If you're not into speed get the Cooper and get some fancy extras.

Our esteemed Administrator is right...Cooper's are great, but you'll end up wishing you had gotten the S. I had an '06 Cooper that I really enjoyed, but knew the S would be even better. I traded for an '07 S and have lived happily ever-after!

Get the MCS .You wont be sorry .The MPG is not much differant. Going the speed limit on trips I reach over 40 MPG.You will have the power and the force LUKE.

I have driven several of both to date.  There ain't nothing the matter with a Mini.  They are great.  Can't disagree that  a MCS is just that much better.  I would much rather have a Mini with a stick than an MCS with an Auto though.  The options that you order are what make your Mini unique, and it seems that you hardly ever see any two Mini's of any kind with exactly the same set of options.

I was at the dealer recently and he pointed out that the lack of spare tire requires expensive run-flats.  Key word is "expensive".  Second point he made was that unless I intended to race the car and need low-profile tires and fancy suspension, the ride would be better with the standard 15-inch MC tires.  Any thoughts?

It sounds like you are talking about purchasing from the dealer but depending where you live you shouldn't need a spare, this is coming from me and a 33" spare is a pain to tug around lol. I would imagine the ride would be better with 15's because it could allow for more rubber rather than steel, rubber is softer than steel anyday. This again is just opinion, I'm not a Mini owner. 16's will look better though

Just ditch the runflats and get a can of slime and a 12V compressor, you'll never regret it. We also get roadside service if you're under warranty, and if you're not AAA is pretty cheap.

And they're completely worthless. Grab a pair of regular high performance tires for half the price and you'll be much happier.
