hello everyone! i'm new to the forum but have a complaint and question for all of you. i have a 05 mini cooper s coupe and have for the past 3 yrs now, had a problem with the sunroof drain vent coming off during the course of each winter ive had it, ultimately causing rain/ water to enter my interior and flooding my carpet! has anyone else had this problem? is it common? how do you fix the problem (this is the 3rd time its happened)? how has your dealer been about replacing the carpet (its been 2-3 months since ive checked/ driven the car, its been sitting outside and definately has a musty odor)? any help advice or comments will definately help me out here. i'm scheduled to take the mini in in 6 days. the first time it happened, they replaced the carpet without me even asking, the second time it happened they werent going to replace the carpet even though it smelled musty- until i went thru a number of supervisors and management and complained! now, this is the third time, i'm certain they are not going to want to replace the carpeting a third time... it's still under warranty. whats eveyone's thoughts on this?

I've never heard of this before ... Mines been fine and sits outside , I'd guess that the water is freezing and blowing the drain off ... I had this happen on a land rover and they replaced the headliner and carpet ....

Nope, never had anything leak on my '06 either. Sounds like fixing the carpet is a secondary fix. Fixing the drain should be the top concern.

It's worth pushing for, especially since it's been a repeated problem. I operate a vehicle reliability survey. I don't know about the MINI in particular, but clogged, crimped, or dislocated drain tubes are the primary source of sunroof leaks. I hear of this in many different cars, though not commonly in any.
